Are you getting that Spring feeling?

Do you get that pleasant feeling when the calendar flips over to the first of March? It's starting to get lighter and brighter every day and the creative wellspring is rising. I'm itching to get outdoors and paint again.
It feels like I'm ready to burst with ideas and places to paint this year. Winter has a habit of doing that to a creative soul, which is one of the positives of being cabin bound for a good few months.

I hope you get some of that Spring feeling today!

"Lundy Lightshow" watercolour painting.

The joy of a sunset is something that never fades on me. I still rush out every time to get a good spot to watch old Ilios go down over the sea.
Had some fun with this one tonight.

Have a great day!

"When the day gets to the point where the sun is getting near to that yardarm, sometimes the wind drops off and the ocean glasses over and the sun sparkles on the water just light up."

Lundy Sparkle

5x5 inch oil on panel framed £50 Sold

Conor Wilson and I, went out painting on Combesgate Beach last week, and discovered the joys of painting on small square panels. The speed that you can capture a study in was much quicker than with the larger panels we had used previously. Not to mention you don't need to mix so much paint up on your palette, which on a hot or windy day tends to dry really quickly, when you are using Alkyds.

We are both hooked on these little panels and will be using them a lot more this Spring and Summer.

Summer Skies

14 x 10 inches Oil on Canvas board Framed £200

After the intense claustrophobic feel of the thick sea mist that has enveloped us over the past few days, along with the freezing , damp air too, the clearer skies and different layers of cloud that are on view now are a real tonic. Coupled with warm sun and light winds, it's nice to know that we are at last in Spring!

Lundy Watercolour

Sat in my car after walking the dog this morning, as usual my gaze wandered out to Lundy . Today it was lit up nice enough for a quick watercolour sketch.
There's something pleasing about these quick little 15-20 minute studies. Nice and loose and no pressure .
