I've thoroughly enjoyed working on this large 36 x 24 inches commission for a new customer this week. It’s a very satisfying feeling to be able to create something that captures memories, feelings and life’s experiences for someone. Something that they can cherish for years to come. If you would like to commission a painting, contact me with a message and we can discuss painting something unique and special for you. I’m happy to work from your own reference photos. * Do you have a special view that you would like me to paint for you? Paintings usually take approx one to two weeks to complete. A small deposit is required upon ordering. Then a digital sketch is made of the composition of the painting for your approval. The remaining balance is paid after the painting is completed, and you have received photos of the finished piece for your approval. Your painting can be collected from the studio or posted or couriered to you depending on it’s size. "Mending the Nets" watercolours from a Greek Island.

There's an inherent joy in watching somebody happy and engrossed in their work. Whilst I was painting this harbour scene on Hydra, this fellow started mending his nets accompanied by an old transistor radio blasting out Greek Music, the harder he worked the louder his singing got. All bathed in the heat of the midday sun.

June on the Coast - Watercolour sunset paintings at the beach.

June certainly didn't disappoint, when it came to warm weather and melting sunsets. Most evenings you could find a gathering down on Barricane Beach, soaking up the warmth and the spectacular sunsets.

"Wouldn't Want To Be Anywhere Else!" was all you could here some evenings.

The other side of June is the quiet weekdays before the main tourist season starts and these fisherman were enjoying the solitude of a sunset fishing session. I wonder if they caught anything?

After yesterday's hot , sunny day, today showed us the other side of late Spring, heavy showers and a grey thunderous cloud laden sky.
Not one to let a grey day dampen my mood, I set about on a recent Morte Point sunset to lift the grey gloom, it did the job for me , I hope that it does the same for you?

BigSplashySlider -watercolour surfer

After the fun I've had painting this series on a 12 x 9 inch size, I felt the urge to paint them bigger and see what came out using bigger mop brushes. This is the first of  them on a 20 x 16 inches watercolour pad. I'm excited to go even larger with them, using the bigger brushes made for looser more spontaneous washes and strokes, then using the same brush held right on the tip of the handle in a vertical position for the detailed parts made for a really pleasing painting experience. I hope you like it? Now I have to go and find some bigger sheets of watercolour paper.

A trip across the river to Instow ,while my wife played football and my daughter slept, something about a lazy Sunday feel with boats bobbing in the harbour that makes everything seem very restful.

Thanks to the kind people at St.Cuthberts Mill, I received some watercolour samples to try. This is the first one that I painted on Saunders Waterford 300gsm Rough, and very nice it was too, a good paper that held the pigment well yet was still smooth enough to allow detail work. I will definitely be using this paper again!
