Summer Lundy

Oil on canvas 16 x 12 Sold

This was painted after one of the best sunsets of last summer. There's something strangely primal that affects me when the sun starts setting on the middle of Lundy. It's either the start of Summer, or coming up to the end of it. Our seasonal sundial.

Aquaman swims from Lundy to Woolacombe.

Here's a great little film from Wavedreamer , documenting local Aquanaut Nick Thorn's legendary swim. Click here.

Morte Point

The quick one hour oil sketch from Wednesday's paint course, with David. Up on Morte Point looking out to Lundy in the haze.
A tricky day with midday overhead light flattening out the levels and leaving very little shadows.

Autumn

"Autumn Puts" a very changeable day, and a real feel for the change in season. Cooler, sun not so warm, and the colours changing. I painted this during the afternoon hours of friday's painting course that I taught.
A very pleased Ray Perry, with his morning painting, from his first painting workshop session. A treat for his 40th birthday. Ray was a star student , he picked up the techniques quickly and applied himself with enthusiasm all day. Coastal painting lessons.
The day finished up with another lovely sunset over Lundy.

Sunset and an Orange Rod

Went down to the beach to snap the sunset, while dinner was cooking and got this little burner, sizzling over Lundy, and then a bonus as this hot little orange rod rumbled by!

Dolphins

Rich Gregory took this fine shot from Frolica , saturday morning off the North Light end of Lundy Island, ( check out wavedreamer for more lovely shots ). A pod of twenty or more Common Dolphin treated us to a show of aquatic acrobatics and graciously hung around whilst the boys dropped over the side and swam with them.
Jimbo Yeo took some great video and edited it all together with one of the songs we strummed on the voyage back into harbour. You can watch his video here, Lundy Dolphins.

Our illustrious skipper..........still smilin'!

A drunken stowaway found only after leaving Ilfracombe Harbour.

We'll never get 'er through there!

Moon jellies by the thousand.........never seen the like before.

Baggy Point from the ocean not a view many get to see, looking splendid in the morning sunlight.
