September Spring Tide

September Spring Tide.
Oil on canvas board 14 x 10 inches £150 unframed

I painted this view of Morte Point looking across from Marine Drive on what was the biggest tide of the year.
I covered the panel with an underpainting of a crimson and ultramine, purple mix , which relly helped with the wet sand on the beach and also gave a good foundation for the rocks and cliifs on the distant point.
It was also the day that Nick Thorn swam from Lundy Island to this beach, an open ocean swim of twenty miles, totally heroic effort, and a great fundraiser for the Children's Hospice.
