Across the Dunes
oil on board
5 1/2" x 3 1/2"
A beautiful , warm sunny day pulled me outdoors , with my easel and oils to capture this little sketch of Putsborough Beach from a viewpoint on top of Woolacombe Warren, looking south along the sand dunes. Half way through painting, someone lit a bonfire amongst the trees in the distance, which gave me the smoky contrast between the trees.
This time of year still has all the rustic , earthy colours. Warm reddish browns and sandy greens, plus the sun is still low enough in the sky to give some dramatic lighting.
Before I knew it two hours had flown by.
