Are you getting that Spring feeling?

Do you get that pleasant feeling when the calendar flips over to the first of March? It's starting to get lighter and brighter every day and the creative wellspring is rising. I'm itching to get outdoors and paint again.
It feels like I'm ready to burst with ideas and places to paint this year. Winter has a habit of doing that to a creative soul, which is one of the positives of being cabin bound for a good few months.

I hope you get some of that Spring feeling today!

June on the Coast - Watercolour sunset paintings at the beach.

June certainly didn't disappoint, when it came to warm weather and melting sunsets. Most evenings you could find a gathering down on Barricane Beach, soaking up the warmth and the spectacular sunsets.

"Wouldn't Want To Be Anywhere Else!" was all you could here some evenings.
12 x 9 inches watercolour on arches paper. Framed. £145 Sold.

The other side of June is the quiet weekdays before the main tourist season starts and these fisherman were enjoying the solitude of a sunset fishing session. I wonder if they caught anything?

"Sunset Fishermen" 12 x 9 inches watercolour on arches paper. Framed. £145 Sold.

"Winter Jewels" - Woolacombe beach watercolour.

I don't know about you, but this current run of wet and extremely windy weather , has had me yearning for some sunny, dry days. This is a scene that warms me inside , a gentle surf rolling in and a glowing sunset, yes, it's February, they can happen, honest!

"Florence Sunset" - watercolours of Italy

"Florence Sunset"  12 x 9 inches  watercolour on rough paper. Purchase details on my Fine Art website here. The sunsets over the river Arno in Florence just dance with sparkle and colour. Looking West towards the famous old bridge PonteVecchio just leaves you in awe at the sublime beauty before you. It also made me wonder how many people had watched these over the years in this historic city.  The moment is so fleeting, everybody seems to stop and soak up as much of it as possible as if it is the last time that they will see it. Exchanging knowing looks of appreciation, each one part of that special sunset watchers club.

Have a great Friday!

January Sunsets

Finally, the big ol' sun is inching it's way back along the horizon. Our natural seasonal sundial has been spectacular over the last few nights.

Perfect start .....perfect end. 3ft glassy fun with a bunch of good chums, and a sunset sooo bonkers that my painter's eyes are suffering from colour overload.

Autumn

"Autumn Puts" a very changeable day, and a real feel for the change in season. Cooler, sun not so warm, and the colours changing. I painted this during the afternoon hours of friday's painting course that I taught.
A very pleased Ray Perry, with his morning painting, from his first painting workshop session. A treat for his 40th birthday. Ray was a star student , he picked up the techniques quickly and applied himself with enthusiasm all day. Coastal painting lessons.
The day finished up with another lovely sunset over Lundy.
