"Hot Afternoon" - Deckchair painting

There's something about deckchairs set up in a row next to each other on sunny beach, with the sea sparkling . Is it the invitation to sit yourself down and drift off into a hazy daydream, or the memories of family trips with fish and chips ,and the seagull cry overhead in the blue sky?

"Idyllic"- oil painting on a sunny day.

Well after what seems to be an endless barrage of wet and gloomy weather, we have had summer return to our shores today, and boy, it felt good!
I had a commission to do for a customer, so I opened the door and windows in the studio and soaked up that summer vibe.
Here are a few photos of my process today, it was fun!

" Business Lunch" - Winsor & Newton Cotman watercolour field box

Watercolour 6 x 8 inches £300

I've just treated myself to a Winsor & Newton Cotman Field Box, and what a delightful little piece of kit it is.

Small enough to fit into your shorts or jacket pocket and it contains everything that you need for a quick bit of Plein Air watercolour sketching. A better , slightly bigger brush would be an improvement as the one that comes with it is a tad small. I've also added a few extra colours to the palette, to suit my tastes this is easily done as all the pans slide out freely. I have a really good feeling that this little bit of kit along with a Moleskine watercolour book will make my outdoor sketching a whole heap of fun!

Have a good day!
